Spanish Camp Retreat began with the vision of Cheryl Larsen and Kimberly Linker, longtime nurses with a shared dedication to the care and well-being of their patients. Each has devoted their lives to creating a higher level of care for those in our Central Coast community who are the most in need. While many of the assisted living facilities in San Luis County remain unavailable, with long wait lists due to overwhelming demand, Cheryl and Kim offer a thoughtful, personalized environment for residents to live life with comfort and peace in a beautiful, thoughtfully-designed outdoor and indoor setting.

Our Mission
At Spanish Camp Retreat, our goal is to provide supervised care that respects personal rights, promotes independence, and ensures a quality of life in a healthy and safe atmosphere. It is our mission to strengthen the physical and mental wellness of our residents, enabling them to live in peace and relaxation. We work toward these objectives through the following:
- Prioritizing the finest customer service and communication with residents and families, ensuring that staff communicates with all residents and family members in a polite, courteous, and gently respectful manner.
- Requiring that our staff meets and exceeds both industry standards and state requirements with a deep and compassionate bench of knowledge of areas that impact resident care and are familiar with each person’s specific needs.
- Ensuring that staffing ratios are appropriate to the level of care of residents.
- Guaranteeing that resident activities are built with the interests of our guests in mind and appropriate to their level of participation and social preference.
- Making certain that our team meets on a weekly basis to discuss resident needs and any potential facility changes, as well as requiring staff to communicate each shift change and provide as much information as possible to incoming staff.
- Working daily to offer food service and dining programs that exceed industry standards and state regulations, as well as encouraging a family-like dining atmosphere that is considerate of each resident's needs and preferences.
- Promising that the external and internal décor of the Retreat is as comforting, hospitable, and safe as possible.
